Meet Connie Maedke

CVT, CPDT-KA Certified Professional Dog Trainer & Certified Vet Tech

I have been a Certified Veterinary Technician since 1992, working at the Animal Hospital of De Pere. Throughout my career, I’ve always had a strong interest in animal behavior—reading extensively, attending seminars, teaching puppy classes, and becoming the go-to resource for client behavior questions within the clinic.
I began professional dog training in 2017 at Practical Obedience and earned my Certified Professional Dog Trainer–KA credential in 2018. To better support pets who struggle with veterinary visits, I became a Fear Free Elite Veterinary Technician. In 2022, I completed CAM advocate Level 1 coursework, expanding my knowledge of canine osteoarthritis, its impact on physical and behavioral health, and the importance of early identification, treatment, and long-term management.
I love customizing training plans to help families and their dogs thrive together. Clients often tell me that I treat their dogs as if they were my own. I am especially fond of working with puppies, newly adopted dogs, and those wonderfully wild adolescent dogs!
On the personal side, my husband and I have two adult daughters and a granddaughter. We share our Casco home with four Walker hounds—Alan, Burda, Hyde, and Raven—and one rescued Cavalier, Izzy. I also enjoyed doing therapy dog work with our previous Cavalier, a role that brought joy to me and the hospice patients we visited.
What began as a simple one-acre fenced area on our property for our hounds to run when they weren’t hunting. Eventually grew into Merry Mutts Play Yard—a private dog park where guests can schedule play sessions without the risks or stress of unfamiliar dogs.

Dogs have shaped both my personal and professional life in countless ways, and I look forward to partnering with you as we begin our training journey together.
